Section III: 30-Year Availability

The Coconino National Forest’s strong support for the response to the NEON RFI indicates its willingness to come to an agreement which will ensure 30 years of access through their permitting/leasing processes. The Forest Service will maintain the roads that provide access to these sites. They actively support the use of Happy Jack RS for an administrative site, which we expect to share with the Lowell Observatory, who is using it for an administrative site for their nearby $30 million telescope sponsored by the Discovery Network. We have also been working with the Coconino NF to develop the historic buildings at the Beaver Creek RS into an education center.
